24 hour performances over a week
With the participation of Myléna Bergeron.
The two performers start with their backs to opposite walls. Each one recites a text in a microphone, that is written above the other performer's head. One reads questions, the other reads answers. The microphones are connected to a technical device that interrupts the microphone signals at a very low threshold. Therefore the performer needs to whisper in order to be heard. Also, if both speak at the same time, the device will transmit only the quieter of the two.
The reading of the texts takes one hour. This performance is repeated 23 times at different hours of the day, using all of the hours of the day at least once. The 24 performances happen over one week. Each performance is accompanied by the recording of the previous performance. This recording is heard only if it is at a lower volume than the live performers.
The text and title of this piece are inspired by the book L'attente l'oubli(1962) by Maurice Blanchot, éditions Gallimard.
Produced by and created at La Chambre Blanche (Québec) in March 2006 with the support of the Canada Council or the Arts.
